Private Investigator and ex-cop Desmond Kincaid has been set-up! Can he prove his innocence and discover who truly murdered the lawyer, Seth Rowan?

Chasing Shadows is a stealth noir mobile game in which the player must stealth their way through three levels to unravel a murder mystery. This game was developed over a 6 week period with a team of nine people. Chasing Shadows was chosen as a polish project.

After the project was complete, I took the time to rework and polish the script to better reflect the style and flow of the game.

Game Writer

The task of game writing for Chasing Shadows was handed over to me part way through development. I worked closely with the original narrative designer to ensure her original vision was achieved. As such, I became a point of contact to communicate the vision of the game for our level designers, cinematic designers, and artists. My main responsibilities included:

  • Script Writing

  • Script Ambient Dialogue

  • Communicating the Narrative Arc and Vision

  • Test the Game for Narrative Quality

Level Designer

My primary role in this project was as a level designer. I was originally tasked with creating the first level (tutorial) and the final level. When I took on the role of game writer, I passed the third level on to another teammate. As a level designer, I worked closely with the other level designers, cinematic designers, and system designers to ensure that the level felt good to the player and that the mechanics felt natural. My main responsibilities included:

  • Teaching the Player Core Mechanics

  • Testing Level Concepts for Fun and Flow

  • Providing Feedback to Systems

  • Creating an Immersive Experience
